I'm like twenty-one or twenty-two or twenty-six or something like that and live in Boston, Massachusetts. Sometimes I write about things and sometimes I draw and sometimes I don't. I always wear red lipstick.

Another reason to go to grad school (in 1989? plus an overdose of testosterone?):

Only in those collegiate environs it will be appropriate to make literate music heavy on the angst and noise.

Lay low for the letdown

Compiling a list of post-college, early 20s bummed out songs because I’m just that cool right now:

  • “Good luck in jail” by Drive Like Jehu
  • “Unsolicited anthem for the Portland hipsters” by Hellbender (actually most Hellbender songs, really)
  • “Spider in the snow” by the Dismemberment Plan
  • “Kid candy” by Seaweed (obsessed!)
  • “—-” by Karate (got a flat on Melnea Cass the other week, actually)
  • “Feelin’ Massachusetts” by the Juliana Hatfield Three
  • “Unemployment” by Challenger

Very few people are happy, and they wouldn’t be happy if they were. Philip Larkin (via sisterwolf)

span out now
but i won’t bid this place goodbye
neither can live on work on this side
forget how not to sleep alone

skinned my back when i met you
go far away
another month to regress through
those feelings never stay
i think that we have made an oversight

i feel proud
that you found success where you tried
real excuses for why i exist here
i’m humored
by the hill that was pitched

it’s wise now
and it’s good now and then to confine
there’s been worse responsibility, breakneck
i’ll have this
then daze till fall
